~Olde Scotties Primitives~
Thanks for taking the time to look at Me!
My name is Lois Roy; I am a self-taught folk artist. I enjoy creating primitive folk art.
I have always created things from the time I was a little girl. I started making little vignettes in Quahog shells at the beach.
I then went on to design Wedding Bouquets in my family’s florist shop.
As time went on my interest grew. I started working with watercolor then acrylics. I added wood to the mix and started a small woodworking studio. Some of my items were featured in mail order catalogs, The Country Home Catalog & The Teachers catalog. I enjoy working with old doors and shutters to make new pieces of furniture.
About 3 years ago I fell in love with Rug Hooking. But when I tried wool dyes, I was Hooked! I love to mix dyes and the challenge of making new wool look old and dirty.
At 50+ years it was time for me to make a move. It was at this time I decided to leave my job and the rat race of the mall. This is when my new company was born “ Olde Scotties Primitives”. I am now putting all of my effort and knowledge into what I love to do. My husband of 34 years has supported me in this decision.
I have 2 wonderful boys who are grown and married. They have given me 4 glorious grand children who are the love of my life.
Oh how did I come up with the name Olde Scotties Primitives? Well we love Scottie dogs, between all of us we have 6 Scotties and they have an old look to them.
I hope you will love the work I do and will continue to look me up. You can find my work right now on this site Olde Scotties Primitives & Ebay.
Thanks again for taking the time!
